- ABOUT ME -

Often humorously likened to an inflatable tube man onstage because of her enthusiasm, passion, and physicality, all flutist and multi-disciplinary creator Eva Ding ever wants to do is imbue in her audience the same sense of joy and richness the performing arts brings to her. Through her innovative multimedia chamber music productions, Eva delves deep into the essence of the AAPI and immigrant experience, amplifying their narratives through a seamless blend of music, new media, set and lighting design. With grants and residencies from esteemed institutions like Chamber Music America and Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, these shows have left audiences spellbound.

Eva is the founder of KOE, a flute-cello duo dedicated to commissioning and performing works by AAPI and BIPOC composers, integrating projection art, sound, and lighting design to craft immersive storytelling experiences. She is also the founder and artistic director of Orchestra Q, a bold new conductorless chamber orchestra based in Queens, NYC, that redefines what it means to experience classical music. Orchestra Q unites some of the city’s most visionary musicians in genre-bending, immersive performances that break boundaries between tradition and innovation, musician and audience.

From sharing the stage with Grammy and Oscar Award-winning musician Jon Batiste, premiering his "American Symphony" at the iconic Carnegie Hall, to opening the musical festivities for pro-wrestler Orange Cassidy at Independent Wrestling TV's electrifying "Family Reunion" match, Eva has proven her versatility and captivating stage presence time and again.

Eva's career includes concerto debuts and performances alongside ensembles the Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra, the United Nations Chamber Music Society, the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, and the Auckland Chamber Orchestra. Her unwavering commitment to showcasing contemporary music has led her to premiere works by renowned composers, including the "The Golden Flute" Concerto by Chinese-American luminary Chen Yi and a new, orchestral arrangement of Claude Bolling’s “Suite for Flute and Jazz Trio”

Recognized for her exceptional talent, Eva has garnered numerous accolades and fellowships from esteemed organizations such as the New York Foundation for the Arts, Chamber Music America, and the New Zealand Symphony. As the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra's celebrated Young Soloist of the Year in 2017, Eva's star continues to rise, illuminating the world of classical music with her extraordinary artistry.

Shanghai-born, Auckland-raised, and New York-based, Eva received her Bachelor of Music with Honors from the University of Auckland under the tutelage of Professor Uwe Grodd and as the recipient of the Manhattan School of Music President's Scholarship, completed her Master of Music there with Robert Langevin, Principal Flutist of the New York Philharmonic.

In her spare time, Eva likes to play with her poodle Chocco, who adores singing along to her flute practice and her orange kitten Marigold, who is largely uninterested but graciously allows it.
